What would you ask for if you wanted a drink of one of these?

Help answer the greatest debate--which is it? Coke, Soda, Pop or something else.
I added my answer and this is probably the only time that I have aligned myself with red states.
What do you call it? And where did you grow up?

I grew up in Atlanta but i say soda. The girls say soda with me, Mike calls it Coke. He's from Waycross, Ga.

I thought everybody from Atlanta (the birthplace of Coca Cola) called it coke!

I call it coke. I learned my dialect in Dallas. (or however they put that.) They concluded that people that say "pop" are cooler? "Pop" is not cool.

i know... im weird.

i think i say soda because when i tell my kids "no you can't have ......" i want to be all inclusive. "No coke, pepsi, dr. pepper, mtn. dew, etc... NO SODA!"

my dad (who still lives in atlanta) says coke!

I grew us in Eastern Kentucky and we always said "pop". Coke was a brand, just like Pepsi was.

However, now I typically say soft drink. I refuse to say "Soda" because when I was growing up, only weird people said "soda"...
Sorry Amy :(

"Do you want a coke?" "Yeah, bring me a sprite."

This is how I grew up and sounds like one of the many conversations I had.

Folks in southern Indiana always said coke.

Growing up in Dallas, everything was Coke EXCEPT the king of all soft drinks-Dr. Pepper!

Never heard anyone truly from the south use "soda" or worse-yet "pop". Coke it is.
