Tybee!!

With just a day and a half away until we leave for Tybee, a friend asked for some suggestions on places to eat and shop on Tybee. So I decided to share with anyone else headed in that direction.

So here you go:
For breakfast or lunch (Not open for dinner —we generally go for a late big breakfast): The Breakfast Club
You’ll probably have to stand in line outside the restaurant to get a table but worth it.
For food and sunset: AJ’s Dockside
food is good and the sunset is spectacular! And I actually usually pass on the seafood here and get the stuffed chicken breast. But the seafood is good too!
For food and fun: The Crab Shack
I usually get the low island boil
Great food and they have live music in the evenings: Stingrays
on Butler (main road) great fried food
Great tacos: Tybee Island Social Club
Laura says it has the best guacamole also! Also on Butler
To cool off: Seaweeds —near stingrays on Butler—Great Hawaiian ice and ice cream
Really good food but not actually on Tybee: Uncle Bubba’s Oyster House -- Paula Dean’s brother--what more need I say!
The one we haven’t tried yet—but have heard great things about: Sundae CafĂ©
We plan to try it this trip.

Of course there are lots of choices in Savannah also.

Shopping is more limited. Tybee Oaks has a few little shops. Tybrisa has lots of shops but mainly souvenir shops. There are a couple of art galleries on the Butler that are nice. I generally go shopping on River Street or at the City Market in Savannah when I want to shop.

The Dolphin Tours are generally nice. We’ve pretty much settled on Captain Mike’s for their sunset tour. We see some dolphins but the highlight is seeing the sunset behind Cockspur Lighthouse.

If you like history and museums, Ft Pulaski, Tybee Island Light House, Ft Screven are all fun. And of course there is lots to see in Savannah.

If you need groceries, the IGA carries most things but there is a Wal-Mart and a Publix on Wilmington Island between Savannah and Tybee.

And no report on Tybee would be complete without mentioning the numerous and wonderful ghost tours in Savannah.

(have I mentioned we are less than 36 hours away from our trip to Tybee?!)
